    RHi is currently seeking a Cost Analyst for our client, a major oil & gas operator, for a 6 month, site-based contract position. The work schedule if 14 days on – 12 hours per day and 14 days off. The Cost Analyst (CA) is accountable for providing cost control, analysis and management for construction and maintenance projects. The position reports functionally to the Project Services Manager and is assigned to work within the Construction Management Team (CMT) at site. All duties will be performed in accordance with COP HSE policies and SPIRIT values. The CA will utilize his/her expert knowledge of cost control functions related to the monitoring, tracking and forecasting project costs and budgets. The functions include analyzing and verifying the various contractors’ cost reports, in relation to quantity and baseline budgets, cash flows, manpower plans, histograms, and various quantity and progress curves and advising CMT and PMT of committed, incurred, invoiced and forecast cost evaluations. The successful candidate will have working knowledge in all phases of projects from conception to completion. In addition to the organization, this position will work closely with other entities such as contractors, suppliers, vendors and subcontractors. Within these organizations, this position interacts and coordinates between multiple stakeholders, including but not limited to Finance, Engineering, Quality Management, Construction Management, Plant Operations & Maintenance, Project Management, Project Controls, Contracts Administration, Procurement, Expediting, Transportation, and Logistics. The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert in using SAP for cost management and must have a proven track record of working on large scale, complex Oil & Gas projects covering all phases and disciplines.


    • Monitor, update, control and forecast projects committed, incurred and invoiced costs.
    • Track projects actual costs in SAP.
    • Prepare reconciliations, monthly reports, trends, forecast at completion estimates, variance analysis, manpower profiles, cash flows and project completion reports.
    • Review and evaluate contractors’ estimates and change requests and participate in project change management and risk management reviews.
    • Develop and update cost reports and presentations to monitor and analyze projects costs and budgets.
    • Review contractor progress reports, manpower plans, and installed quantities tracking to ensure alignment with incurred and forecast cost analysis.
    • Assist the project team in forecasting spend for accrual purposes
    • Validate and release all invoices related to site activities in a timely and efficient manner
    • Process journal entries for financial accuracy
    • Work closely with cost estimating, planning/scheduling, risk management and functional leaders to develop integrated project progress and analysis reports.
    • Provide cost input to projects benchmarking and provide related metrics such as rates of progress and manpower densities.
    • Provide input for projects estimating and risk assessments.
    • Maintain document trail to facilitate internal audits of internal control systems.
    • Prepare cost management sections of project documents and support the cost analysis of contractor bids.
    • Support the project close-out process, as required.


    • Degree or Technical Certificate, or equivalent work experience.
    • Strong hands-on experience with Owner/Operator project accounting practices and principles.
    • Minimum 5 years oil and gas industry experience in a Cost Control/Cost analyst role.
    • Minimum 3 years of site-based cost management experience.
    • Proficient in the use of SAP and MS Office suite.
    • Legally authorized to work in Canada on a regular full-time basis without restrictions.
